Scotland's Backroads.

Nunraw abbey has a wee tea shop that's worth a stop. Fine views over East Lothian to Fife from the wee cemetery for the monks. A bit further south and higher up, there's an iron age fort right by the road that's interesting. Why would you place a defensive structure half way DOWN a hill? :nenau

Leading off the Garvald road is the Herring road to Dunbar. Unsurfaced and not really for motor vehicles but *cough* it's gey quiet up there. :augie

Great wee video Mike, love those wee back roads, cycled them more times than I can remember, see you at strontion👍

There's a rumour that a daft bugger tried to take an old R100GS up there but bottled out on the newly rubbled access slope when he realised he'd a full tank of petrol!

I’ve been watching your vids on YouTube. Very good they are too. :clap

Since you mention those rolling hills ...

If you take the Heriot road you can head over to Soutra via Gilston after a short trot on the A7. Heriot kirkyard is worth a stop and a wander. I recall coming across a memorial there to a guy who had died in Tangier! How on earth did a chap from Heriot end up there? It's these wee stops that make back roads so interesting!

Really enjoyed Dalveen and will watch more. Great roads you have. I cycled Carlisle (via Longtown) to Innerliethen some years ago on my way to JoG and always remember thinking "could really do with a cuppa and a bit of cake" only to come across the Buddhist centre cafe.

I took a bimble today over the Granites then to Borthwick castle and Crichton. I've not been over that way for yonks. A wee wander around Borthwick Kirk yard is interesting too.IMG_20250731_131113_410.jpgIMG_20250731_132458_015.jpgIMG_20250731_133256_876.jpgIMG_20250731_133313_850.jpg
