Hi there, i bought my F650 Dakar last year, took off the scotoiler because the chain was full of soil/sand/crap, it took me 3 attempts to get the chain clean!! I now use sDoc chain cleaner and lube, the lube goes on like oil and then sets like wax, I guess the carrier in the spray evaporates. chain stays clean, doesnt appear to wear (2000mls so far) and the lube doesnt fling off either, once it has 'set'. Result!! I like the fact that manually oiling the chain makes you inspect it on a regular basis, whereas with an auto oiler you just forget about it.

Two of us fitted and used them on an RTW. We both would say they were really worth the money and made a significant difference to the life and maintenance of the chain, extending it's life to around 16-19,000 miles which we were both pretty impressed with. Especially when given that we road across sand and salt and through pouring rain and snow.
