I was at the Scottish Classic M/C Club's Autumn Gathering at St. Fillans today. The weather wasn't bad and there was a large turn-out of classic and modern bikes.

As expected, I bumped into 'Big Jets' :thumb.

His 100GS is now up for sale - so he immediately started giving it a polish before putting up the "For Sale" sign :augie .

(Actually, he was tasting the oil to see if it was from the engine or gearbox - the likely candidate is a leak from the Oil Pressure Switch :D).

£2,750 gets you this fine machine . . . . . .

. . . . . But I would give him a call to get the low-down on it ;).

He has problems posting pictures so asked me to mention that its for sale.

There were fewer Airheads than usual at the 'Gathering' but I did spot these:

An R100 - (what ?? A 'CS' ??).

And if 'slow' is your thing . . . .

And I'm not joking. On the way home on my 1958 Ariel 'VH' I came up behind a line of slow traffic - guess what was at the front :blast. The cars gradually got past and I was able to overtake easily at 60mph.

I took 130 pictures at the event and when I've uploaded them all to Photobucket I'll stick a link on here. So, if you are into Vincents, Guzzis, Laverdas, Real Triumphs, BSAs and some of the rarer stuff - watch this space .

I had an R 45. Worst purchase of my life, they are slow. Really REALLY REALLY slow. Could not wait to get rid of it, virtually gave it away in the end. Never again.....

Nice piccies tho!

Hi Robin,

I was looking out for you, sorry to hear about the knee.

Would you have been on the 80GS 'Bumblebee' or the K75 (assuming the R60/7 isn't on the road yet)??

Hope you have a quick recovery.

Bob.

Um.

That looks well uncomfortable. Scrunched up legs and your hands above your ears so all the blood drains out of them. Still, its not all about comfort, is it!

Each to their own I spose. And rightly so!

Cheers Bob. Would have been on the K75 which I'm finding rather addictive! Knee's just about OK again so must try and put a few miles on the Bumble before SORN at the end of the month.

R60/7 is as far away from completion as ever, beginning to think that it might be better to sell it to someone who will actually do it. We'll see, it's not eating any corn in the shed. Still have the carburettor probs to fix on the R100S too.

Did the Ariel behave itself this time? Seem to remember it had a taste for plugs on the summer run.

Looks like I missed a great day.

Its getting worse. I had to bump start it down the hill at home, after which it ran fine to St. Fillans. It refused to start on the homeward run so I put a clean plug in and it went eventually, again, didn't miss a beat going home.

It needs some serious attention over the winter as its leaking oil and rattling like the 'Anvil Chorus'. The tank has started leaking when full as well.

These old bikes need constant TLC :blast.

Bob.
