Anyone tried this stuff is it better than WD40.

Supposed to be the dogs danglies, soaks up the salt or somethin.

I've just bought some, if it does what it says on the tin it'll be good stuff. BTW WD40 is called because its Water Dispersant for 40 days. Then it becomes less fluid and becomes hydroscopic (I think).

I think you will find that its name comes from the fact that it was the 40th version of water dispersant that they tried, hence WD40

Well whatever the name stands for it does OK, but Scotoiler is the best stuff I've used, especially at the moment with all this salt.

It the only one which claims to deal with salt and all the reviews I've read have palced it tops!

Cheery bye!!

Hi chaps,

I really rate the Scottoiler stuff, it's easy to apply and you just need to reapply on a regular basis.

We'll soon see after the winter season!

Correctamundo matey!!

If yer old enough to remember,it was called 'Rocket WD40' many moons ago, with a small picture of a rocket on the can.

Water Displacement 40 ( 40th blend )

The NASA Rockets were coated with it to protect them prior to launch.

I'm sure sure there is another thread on this however, I used it last year on my AT and rode it all through the winter. Even the ali' bash plate looked as good as new in the spring. I washed the bike once a week and covered it in the stuff each time. If there had been heavy rain I re-applied it to the fork legs and the underside of the bike.

This year I'm trying ACF50. It doesn't seem to get washed off in the rain as quickly as the Scotoiler stuff. I'm washing the bike with a pressure washer once a month then re-covering it with the stuff. So far there's no sign of any corrosion.

I've used it liberally, still corroding. Don't know if this is a reflection on Scottoiler [doubt it], or just crap BMW finish.
