Good evening,

Just after listeneing to the minister on Today FM talking about this new leglisation thats being fast tracked. He stated that all Scramblers (i hate that term) will be banned including thoes currently road legal.

Where will this leave thoes of us with road legal, taxed and insured enduro bikes? In the eyes of public and prob Gov and Garda these are all the awful scramblers. Will we be compensated for the loss of value?

Could even be used against like of a crf250l

I can only imagine the job they will make of trying to define a "scrambler" in a way that can be legally applied.
ABR have a ban on enduro bikes on their trails at the summer meeting, and its not straightforward. Their core definition hangs around factory fitted rear foot pegs.

Any link to the story ?
What about Trials bikes (and Adv bikes with knobbly tyres)

It was live on TodayFM.

Should be able get it on the TodayFM Player later on.

Absolutely so John. Reading that, an 800GS with TKC tyres fitted could be classed as a "scrambler" by someone with limited knowledge of bikes.

I wasnt aware of that ban. So if my tenere had pegs removed is that banned? like or dr400, 650 and ktm 690 get tricky

Thats what caused me go oh crap.

Scrambler means nothing.

Reality is the law exists already, cant use a vehicle on the road if its not road legal.

Plus this "cant use in in public places" sure cant use a car in a public green area either already in the law.

I know they mean strenghten laws for the scum riding them but if the wording is too general someone on a crf or likes me wr250f could be stopped even though its fully road legal.

I suspect this will be an update similar to the Uk's "prohibition of riding in a place other than a road clause without land owners permission" which the current road traffic act doesn't have. This will be the end of what little trail riding is currently viable in the republic.
The headlines are in terms that the general public understand, I doubt the words "scrambler" will make it into any legislation.

thats another side to it. While its a grey area at present this will hamme rit home.

Now dont get me wrong the girls death was awful. Issue is not enough policing and god awful parents with scumbag kids.

Maybe we should band scumbags from breeding

Best to re-name them; the Triumph is a nice bike.
Triumph in Shipley leant me a Scrambler 900 whilst my Rally Pro was in for something. I had a very pleasant couple of days around the Dales. It was a lovely thing to ride. I wouldn’t want to do a long tour on it but for a day out it’s great.

Yes I like them too.

There's a very pretty Swedish lassie riding one around South America.

She's called Hanna C Johansson on YouTube

Not really
It will be road registered, insured and taxed plus lawfully owned
It’s seemingly the unregistered ones they are going after
