Someone on the BMW GS mailing list posted a bunch of screenshots of his 2610 and 276 side by side. Makes for an interesting comparison. You really notice the difference in quality between the two screens, especially if you consider that the two screens are physically about the same size:

Unfair comparison. The 2610 is equiped with the worst screen Garmin ever used. The best screen (same size and resolution as the 2610) you will find on the old BMW Navigator I. This device is very similar to the SP3 except a much better screen.

So if you compare BMW Nav I with 276C what will you find? The 276 is better i almost every situation except one; When you have the sun directly in your face the BMW Nav I appears brighter and is easier to read.

There is one way to make the 276C work better in this situation. Use "night mode" and the screen is more readable in sunlight (!)

While the 276c screen is a little bigger than the 2610, it has 3x as many pixels in the display. That’s the main reason the picture of the 276c appear so much bigger in the picture above

2610 display is 305 x 160 pixels sq = 48,800 pixels
276c display is 480 x 320 pixels sq = 153,600 pixels
