Screen dimensions please

I have just got my GS and yes I have a screen question. I am 5'6" and find the standard screen reasonably ok. What I do think would help if it was slightly wider as I believe that is were some of the buffetting comes from. From the vast number of subscibers on this forum hopefully someone of my proportion may be able to offer sound advice. So, come on and let me know the dimensions of the available screens compared to the standard one. I know the yanks forum has an article on screens but most of the people who tested them were six foot plus. Thanking you all in advance, BIG RICKY.

Part of the fun of the GS is feeling a bit of the world around you, or you would have bought a pan
I'm only a couple of inches taller than you and find the screen in full up position absolutely fine. Do you have hand guards? they take most of the wind off your arms (even with my big shoulders).
I'm sure someone on this site has a huge screen & furry dice, but the bike is what it is, enjoy!

Being "only 5'6" is part of the problem - having the seat on the low setting you're getting the turbulence created by the wind deflected around the bottom of the screen. I'm not sure that a wider screen will help much but you must try before you buy. I suggest you go to a good BMW dealer and ask to switch a used Adventure screen onto your bike and test it out. The Adventure screen is wider and taller.
Alternatively, try the MRA Vario screen which helps cut down on the partial vacuum behind the screen and thereby eliminates the rush of air from the sidea and below to fill the void. This is an expensive screen, so again find somebody near you on this BB who has one and try before you buy.
There are NO simple solutions to the screen problem as there are so many permutations and combinations of rider height, seat height, riding position etc.

Ricky, I too am 5'6" and have the Wunderlich high screen set at its fully laid-back position and don't suffer from the turbulence of the standard screen. I think that this screen is also wider than standard. If you live anywhere near the Midlands (Coventry-ish) you are welcome to try mine before you buy. Panzer Patrol is only slightly taller than me and he uses the standard screen with the flip-up cut off and says it is great. (Are you there, Panzer??)

Screens

I'm 5'10" - Stock screen with the flip cut off, on most laid back position for me!
In summer I sometimes run it without the screen altogether.
Turbulance was bad with the stock screen at higher speeds.

John, you're absolutely right. When my better half keeps getting on my back the turbulence from the screen of my GS is the least of my worries.
