I have often considered fitting a screen extender but having never ridden with one I don't know if its another expensive German Gimmick or fantastic extra.

Im riding an F800GS with a BMW Touring screen, I'm 6ft tall.

I would have grabbed the one on here earlier, but just didn't see it quick enough.

So what is other people experiences ? is it worth £82 plus the postage ?

Ive just fitted the X-screen touring version to mine last week, I also have the BMW Touring screen. Its not perfect by any means but I know its better as I can hear the engine and drive chain noise more(Is that better?). I think the problem is the shape of the BM screen with the cut-out at the top, air still gets through but its not straight in the face anymore. I actually took it off again last week when the heatwave hit as I wasnt getting anywhere near as much air hitting my upper body which I wanted. Other slight issue is that the screen seems to bounce around a bit with it, maybe a bit heavy, but in the lower settings not too bad.

I bought mine S/H off a mate for £45, and for that it seems ok.

I'm 6'4" and used the Wunderlich one (think it's part no: 20280-001) on top of the touring screen on my F800GS and never felt the need for anything more than that. Bought it second hand on here from a strange bloke from somewhere he called 'Lancashire' - not sure it really exists actually! It served well on the F800 and I also used it in the same way on my RT for 2 years and then with the Tiger 800 touring screen until I fitted a Madstad. The 'double-jointed' nature of the fitting means that it will go with screens with cut-outs as well as those that are relatively flat across the top. Highly recommended!

I run a touratech deflector on top of a Givi touring screen. I ride an F650 gs twin and a a shortarse. As a result I easily look over the top, most of the wind goes straight over my head and I can wear an openface in most weather apart from driving rain.

Bought it off here £35 iirc

I'm about 6ft I got one,. luckily it was part of the kit when I bought my bike TT extender, works well with my TT screen. It just lifts that air flow so its no Gimmick :thumby: I like it, it works for me :D

Not a gimmick but effectiveness depends on your height and probably your lid. I've been through a fair few combinations and have settled on a Wunderlich (sp??) vario screen with the addition of an MRA Xscreen lip. I'm 6'2" and this set up suits me great. Open visor at 80 ish can hear music calls and directions through bluetooth and buffeting is minimal.

the great thing about the Xscreen is that it can be tilted back to allow more airflow when needed like a ram air thing. This is great in the rain for forcing water away from your visor and in the heat for forcing fresh air into your face. Obviously this results in not being able to open visor at higher speeds but this has never been a problem in the rain cos who want to get hit in the face with rain drops at 80mph. And lets face it we don't really have much of a problem with scorching heat in the UK.
