Hi Guys
I have just swapped a 1150RT for a 08 650GS single, the former was a bit unweildy on small lanes etc.
I love the bike but need a taller screen. Powerbronze Flip looks good but they only list the 800 version of the 650GS and the Funduro and Strada. Are either of these last 2 compatible with mine and has anyone tried a Powerbronze Flip?
Any other recommendations?

Cheers

Check out Wunderlich and Laminair Lip. The Wunderlich is a conventional more upright screen, and the Laminair Lip is a big wide spoiler (looks quite good once fitted) than is stuck onto the original screen, making it much better.

Just bolted a 1200 screen on my y2k Dakar. My homemade brackets my not look very Touratech and the bars catch it on full lock but after just doing £2700 miles behind it it's the best thing I've done to the bike in 7 years of owning it!!!

Thanks for the help guys. I think I will try an Isotta, the Laminair looks good but I don't fancy shelling out for one to see whether it works or not!

Does anyone know whether there is any difference in the screen mounting arrangements between 04 and 07 for the 650 gs single?

PS Mine has hand protectors.

the f650 went from single to twinspark in 2004 (march i think)

single sparkers have a screen with 3 holes

twin sparkers have a screen with 4 holes

as long as the right amount of holes are there it should fit

+1 for Laminar Lip

SWMBO needed more protection on her GS. this piece of kit provided it for her very easily. It had been on the bike a year with no problems. She is 5'6" tall, if that helps. Your welcome to a test drive, but its a long way to drive.:D

Regards,

Path.

The big difference is 3 and 4 mounting holes for the screen. An 07 should have 4 I'd guess. All commercially sold screens will miss the hanguards unless they're sold as being for handguardless bikes.

I had a Wunderlich screen on my 650. Could ride with visor up no probs. Went round Scandinavia with it and it was brill. If I had another 650 it'd be the first extra i'd buy.

Any chance of putting up some pics?

Thanks! Looks like I'll have to keep an eye out for a used 1200 screen....

To raise the screen on my Dakar I put spacers under the screws and this tilted the screen forward, I am over 6ft tall and found this improved motorway travel. I used plastic floor wedges under 2 of the 3 screws. They are under the frame and give about 10mm of lift.

I have just received and fitted the Isotta screen and although it is an improvement I think it would be better a bit higher, I am 6'. Do you have a photo of your mod with the floor wedges?

I have a Dakar screen for sale if you're interested. £40. I didn't find it that brilliant at keeping the wind off but I have a tour x helmet which also doesn't help me! I also didn't try mounting it at a different angle with floor wedges or washers. I now have the Puig screen which I bought second hand, which is shaped like the Dakar but slightly taller, It's only slightly better and I'm glad I didn't pay £80-90 for it.

Sorry for the delay no photos at the present. The wedges under the screen frame are not visable. I saw that the screws holding on the screen are quite long and that there was space to tilt the screen forward a bit. I removed the screen and the frame. I measured the lenght of the thread on the screws. I took 2 plastic wedges used for flooring and put them in a vice and drilled a hole. I cable tied them to under the frame as they gave good support to the frame. I put the screen back on. Just be careful when tightening the screws up the first time. When I get time I may do a Mark2 version soon.
