I was just in the process of ordering the screen hard part from TT (http://www.touratech.com/shops/008/product_info.php?products_id=5816) as I'll be getting their screen extender for my birthday in a few days. When it came to shipping they wanted £8.40 :censor: £8.40 for posting 2 small pieces of metal, and that's after charging £27 quid for the parts in the first place
So can such parts be bought elsewhere as, out of principle, I don't want to be paying £8.40 for postage? I've had a look on NN's site but can't see anything.
The next question is do I really need them if I'm not doing any off-road?

screen brace

snerkler, just lookd in my treasure trove an the ones i have are the nippy norman ones and are classed as vibration eliminaters but do look stronger than touratwat and are better finished look on nippys site under tobinaters :beerjug:
The picture shows a threaded bar but on my 2008 gs it dosnt fit as it dosnt go all the way through and they fit as oe does like touratwat ones and supports the screen in the same way ,hope this helps

tbh ive had screen extenders on 2 bikes and never had a problem with vibrating screens(oo errr)

(sorry bose)

I thought they were made as the plastic ones can break rather than designed to reduce vibration?

Thanks for the kind offer but it appears as though I should be OK without them. One day when I can afford time off work due to injury I will definately be doing some off-roading and will purchase some then.

In defence of TT they have said that there website charges all postage the same, but they would actually only charge £5. Still not cheap for what they're posting, but less painful than £8.40.

If you have a > 08 GSA then you don't need the hard part, I asked the local dealer of TT in Greece when I bought my GSA and he told me that GSA models from 08 and later come with a hard part from factory (even though it looks like plastic), so no need to change anything.
Tested it myself under vibrations, high winds etc no problems.

Thanks for the info :thumb2
