Screen options for a GS LC ... needed before I go deaf???

Bobbin-Man, this comes up periodically! I recommend going shorter, not taller with the screen. I have the 'rallye' screen on my GS LC (and previously had it on a GSA LC). A different type of wind noise and fractionally more wind to the shoulders, but by no means hard work at motorway speeds. More fun on mountain passes, heavy traffic and in hot weather. Looks cool too! I don't have the part number or price at hand, but it is available from BMW in standard or tinted form. Puig also do a copy for half the price. https://goo.gl/images/Lswv82

I too found the standard adventure screen too noisy and it produced unpleasant buffeting. Found it worked best on the lowest setting.

I tried a puig tall screen. Reduced noise and buffeting but even on the low setting the top of the screen disturbed my eye line

I’ve now got the new MRA vario screen which has the multi adjustable deflector.
It’s much lower than the standard adventure screen and whilst there is some wind hitting my head and shoulders it’s clean with little or no buffeting. I rarely ride on motorways and find this set up the perfect balance for me for commuting and A and B roads.

Moral of the story is bigger isn’t always better

I am 6ft 2" and the Puig Touring screen with deflector and solid Cymarc bracket has given me 2 years of perfection:

The dark smoke was a very bad idea (cannot see anything through it ) and needed returning for the smoke version.

As GrinningGSer. Allnthe same set up & same height as him. My Puig is in the middle position of its range and not too much buffing by the wind. Bonce esconced in a C3Pro.

Hi Stu

I have the MRA Jobbie on my GSA screen. It needs a pair of Mark’s support brackets, but one adjusted I’m happy at licence losing speeds with visor up, and that’s on a high seat raised to highest level.

I have ‘almost’ the same setup

I tried the MRA spoiler using the clip on model on the standard gsa screen and while it was an improvement, I felt I needed more overlap so decided to fit it using the drilled in permanent fixings. But I didn’t fancy drilling the standard screen (tell me - did that work ok?the standard gsa screen isn’t plexiglass is it? Is it acrylic?)
Anyway bought a “slip screen” copy of the gsa screen and drilled it to fit the mra spoiler to give maximum overlap which is where I think it works best.

My idea was to replicate a Givi airflow - and I contacted Fred who has made one himself (also in this thread) as the airflow screens, whilst not exactly pretty, are remarkably effective.

Anyway I think the mra spoiler is probably 90% as good as the airflow I had on my super tenere and is far better looking so I’m happy. I can ride visor up at any speed and it’s very nice.

Gents (and any ladies), I fitted the MRA Multi-X-Creen along with Marks Cymarc strengtheners.

Paired with the strentheners the screen is now (for me) perfect

Interestingly, it is often how a company reacts to a problem when you find out if they care.

Today when I collected my GS from a service I was riding home and one of the MRA screen screws came loose. A little disconcerting in traffic but not a huge issue.

Examining the screw there was little if any Loctite on said screw.

As the screen is quite new I thought that I would drop a quick email to MRA.

Within two hours a reply from customer services escalating the matter and within four hours an email from a director apologising, assuring me that they will be checking products before shipment and offering me any spare parts I might need as a result of the problem.

I don't need any spares but I appreciate the fact that MRA wanted to engage with me.

Checked the remains screws this even and Loctited them all (non were loose).

Hope this ramble helps people make a decision.

Yep it's easy to drill, and the MRA comes with a template to make sure you get the holes in the right place. I just took the xScreen of my old 2016 GSA when I traded it in and the dealer didn't even notice the holes in the screen ...

But I didn’t fancy drilling the standard screen (tell me - did that work ok?the standard gsa screen isn’t plexiglass is it? Is it acrylic?)
