screens gone dull

sony lcd monitor about 4 years old now, not used it for a few days come to use it and its really dull, colours have all gone odd and the menu option isnt letting me adjust the brightness, is it knackered or have i overlooked something!?

Could be the monitor -but have you checked your graphics settings?

(right click on desktop/settings/advanced....................)

Maybe it is your gfx card?

Sounds like a faulty monitor. I had a BENQ monitor that did the same and it had to be repaired. Luckily it was still under warranty.

Can you try it out on an alternative PC? - if it is still dull, then it is the monitor

good suggestion, tested on another monitor and the output is fine so its the monitor! new one on order! great start to the new year!!
