I am really chuffed with myself....:)

Had the GS for a couple of months and tried all of the common screen tricks to the point of obsession. Even my missus was getting worried about the number of screens appearing in the garage!

However, I have finally settled on the following, (if it's of any interest to others:rolleyes:):

Nippy Normans Winglets
Givi tall screen (which is nice and wide at the base).
An Aerotrim spoiler (which is a bit 'Meccano').

The screen is set back in its lowest position and I have installed Tobinator anti-vibe fittings (replace the OEM fittings on the front mounting) and 25mm bar risers (Migsel) which help the bars clear the screen and give me a riding better position.

It all looks a bit of a dog's dinner but it isn't too bad....IMHO.

Performance wise, there is virtually no buffeting of the body and the flow to the head is relatively clean, but not eliminated. It is quieter, I can hear the motor and ride with the visor up if I want to (some wind in the face but it's gentle). It is also quite stable, meaning it doesn't flap around creating more turbulence in the airflow.

Me? I'm 6'4" tall, 33" inseam, and not too broad/fat (16 stone!). I wear an Arai Tour x3 with foam earplugs.

isn't the whole point of riding a motorcycle that you get wind in your face, why not just buy a trailer and take it for runs behind your car?

Dear Elefantman,

Yes, I like the wind in my face and with this set up, I get it. :thumb2

What I don't get is the absolutely crap, deafening battering that was beginning to reinforce my gut feeling that I'd brought a proper BMW (Bayerische Mist Wagen).:ronno Yes, I know, I should've taken a more thorough test ride before I bought it, but I'm impetuous. If I hadn't been able to sort this to my liking - I would've binned the thing for a proper bike. I don't just ride Sunday mornings.

And yes, I've also tried no screen and whilst that is ....lovely...it ultimately really suits someone who does not ride very fast or is particularly short, or deaf already, or doesn't go very far.....or is dead hard.

So, I just thought I'd add some info so that some other tall blokes who might like to ride properly for more than 20 minutes at a time, may benefit from my expensive mistakes. :nenau

(Actually, a total of £150-ish well spent. I could have bought an RT, but if I wanted a real tourer, I'd opt for a fast one.).

So there. Ner ner de ner ner. Now get a life and stop sniping.:)

Hey Snurge

I got an AF330 from Givi and it does the job nicely.

I am a tallish (6"2) fellow and I know your pain with this screen stuff. What I find interesting abour your setup is how similar it is to the AF330. Two screens layed over the top of each other doing that Laminar effect thing..... Seems to me the two screens, laminar thing is the trick to getting a smooth air flow????

Just a thought

Glad you got a setup that works.

Cheers
