Screetchy clutch noise

Newby here! Had a R1150GS (51 plate) for 2 yrs. MINT BIKE.

Love it. Recently started to screetch like rubber on steel or something out of aliens. Soon as you touch the clutch lever it stops. So - something in the clutch pressure train methinks. It's not continuous and at over 40 you can't hear it. Bloody anoying at the lights though. Anyone had this? Is it common / serious? Do I have to get into the clutch release slave cylinder area to fix it?

Any wisdom greatfully received. And hello all! Never thought I'd buy a bemmer (17 jap and italian bikes blah blah blah). Glad I did. Ace

Do you hold the clutch in while stationery at traffic lights etc .....

Sounds like it could be the thrust bearing in your slave cylinder.
