I removed the screen to fit gps mount. When I refitted the screen the two "front" screws (short ones) dont grip. Cant get them tight at all. The screws dont even look long enough  (Ive checked that I'm using the correct ones) Can anyone help or link the bmw micro fiche page that shows the assembly ?

Thanks.

This is the picture http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fiche/ShowImage.aspx?image=Diagrams/B0003499.png&rnd=11393659 And itspart no 6 wont grip !

Is there any swarf or evidence that the threaded hole is stripped and have you tried a longer bolt to engage further doon that threaded hole?

It may be stripped but the screw will still grip another nut  The screw does not look long enough. But its the correct one.

The bolt is more likely to be okay than the threaded hole. It's the hole into which the bolt is inserted which may be stripped.

I can't remember the exact details because I now have Tobinators, but the bolts used to fasten the screen mounting parts fit into a threaded hole within the clocks/lighting assembley.
The front bolts should be 35mm long and the rears 70mm.

I thought the longer bolts go at the front. Maybe we are getting crossed wires with each others front. Is it worth swapping the bolts over?

M6x70mm front screws, M6x35mm rear screws. From the look of it it seems the rears should be the longer ones but this is not so. I expect you have just reversed the screws.
