I seem to have picked up an unwanted 'search engine' that seems to piggy back off any search i do in google.
I have done a scan of my machine with the Mc Affie anti virus and anti everything software along with Spybot.
I have changed the setting of my google search to open the results in a new window, which stopped if for about half an hour, now it pops up in the new window.
Its quite small about the size of the oblong post it note and it does not have any names on it where i can trace it back to, any ideas
i guess it must be in the resistry now, but without knowing what its called is difficult, tried googling it without success

any suggestions

thanks

Download this from the link and run it, it may help, it's called Xray pc and is an easy version of Hijackthis.

.

It's easy to use and might do the trickDick

If it's coolwebsearch / CWS I'd just back up all your data and do a fresh install of XP. I spent a good 24 hours trying to remove this fecking thing and even after downloading every bit of spyware/malware removal software I still couldn't remove it.

You can save yourself a lot of time and hassle by just re-instaling XP with the bonus that your PC will be like new again.
