Seat advice

Thinking of getting a sargent.
I could do with about 1/2" - 1" reduction is seat height.
Will I get that from a sargent as opposed to the stock seat ?

There website says it does but they could be full of it.

Also, does the sargent 'low' version still offer adequete padding to be practical.

and before anyone starts, I know this will have been covered somewhere before, but when I do a search there's hunners o'threads.

Seat Advice

Hi,
Try this-----------www.motorcycleseatworks.co.uk

This guy refurbished (comfort) my seats on an R150RT and, more recently my R1200GS.
I am not connected with this guy in any way, however, I would highly reccommend his services.

Best Regards,

John

Anyone advise me on which seat to go for Sargent or Kehedo from touratwat

Best thing is to try and borrow before you buy. Seats are like screens and helmets, whats good for one person can be horrendous for another! Mind you, if you can source a second hand one in good condition at a reasonable price you will get most/all your money back if it doesn't suit.

Picked up a GSA a couple of weeks ago. With the standard seat in the low position I was on the balls of my feet when I tried to put both down. Bought a Corbin off here but turned it around after one ride. Ultra comfy but the width meant I was right on my tip toes. Tried a LOW Sargent....very comfy and both feet flat on the floor. The Low Sargent in the high position (if your get my drift) is about the same height as the standard seat in the LOW position.

seat advice ?

One word - AIRHAWK.

I have just returned from a trip of almost 12,000 km's ( east coast of Australia to the west coast and return ). Airhawk is the business, and a heap cheaper than the seats named above. And, you can move it to your next bike without any fuss.

I was testing both Sargent and Kahedo before I picked Kahedo.

Reasons:
Both Sargent and Kahedo were firmer than original GS seat which is great as your bottom doesn't hurt after a whole day or multiple days ride but then I focused on these things:

- Shape: Sargent had "edges" at the piping plus the overall shape prevented me to shift my position on the seat over the time as much as I wanted. Position shifting plus standing up is what allows you to relax over long stretches and Kahedo is better for me in that matter.

- Outer material: I was sliding on Sargent due to hard leather surface (I wear ComfortShell trousers most of the time) and that's not what I expect from a new seat. Kahedo has surface that prevents sliding and therefore when you shift slightly on the seat as you ride the seat holds you in that position. On Sargent I slide back to the position pre-defined by the seat's shape not to mention me sliding towards the fuel tank every time I hit the brakes. Dirt stick on Kahedo more due to it's outer material (not that hard to clean thou) but overall the ride comfort makes it up for me.

Best is to try both seats yourself of course and then decide as everybody's different.

Its the best mod i have made to 1200gsa no sliding around no squirming about on corners or when changing direction
I have been out today around south wales ,the black mountains ,gospel pass ,mid wales ,staffs ,cheshire, lancashire, about 500 miles and still as fresh as when i left (nearly) :thumb2
