I've recently bought an 1150 GS (having owned a GSA for years).

My main issue is the slight forward slope of the seat which makes me always slide slightly forwards and ends up being a pain in the bo!!ocks.

I'm thinking that slightly raising the front of the seat is likely to help (rather than going into the expensive aftermarket seat world).

First thing which springs to mind is a few large washers under the front latch to raise this a few mm.

Anyone tried this? If so, has it been useful?

Or any other easy ways of levelling out the seat?

Thanks all.

l.

Either that or some pieces of flat of flat alloy with holes to suit, it works but of course increases the gap from the front of the seat to the tank a bit.

You can put aluminium blocks up to about 20 mm under the front mounts to make the seat sit level if the adjusters don't give the desired effect

Thanks guys. Looks like there's options!

Jeremy, I just had a look. When you say there are locators on frame - do you mean the other holes in the pic below?

If so I can see how this could work. Presumably by moving the rear mounts forward slightly it means that you could use the lower rear slot and the higher front slot.

Ok thanks. Still by the bike and was. Looking into doing this.

Just come up against a puzzle: how do I deal with the catch mechanism? I can't see how to move that forward too. Or maybe it doesn't move?

With a bit of careful manoeuvring the seat will fit into the high front slots and the lower rear slots without the need to physically move the slots on the frame; it's a bit of a fiddle but it will go in (or at least mine does 👍 )

I have the same problem.

My local independant told me that you can't use the low rear/high front combination as it's designed to go low/low or high/high, not a combination. Obviously, he could be wrong.

I have bought a spare pair of seats from James Sherlock and have sent them off to a trimmers to be raised 3/4" at the rear and 1 1/2" at the front to give me more legroom and less in the way of sore bollocks. It'll be a few weeks before I get the seat back, so I can't report on the effectiveness of this yet, but I live in hope. . .

I messed around for ages fitting various spacers to my 1100GS. Fixed it by rotating the handlebars backwards just a tad. Changed the whole seating position.
