My pillion is uncomfortable on my standard gsa saddle and I am curious as to how to fit a standard gs seat or your opinions on what's best? (I had a standard GS before and the seat seemed far better)

Many thanks

Ollie

easy enough to swop

just see if anyone out there wants to swop, takes a little time, but easy enough to do, one bike has 2 locks, other has one. no drilling involved, just swop parts, and tool kit. done several over the years.

I'd rather not sell/swap my current set up but curious about buying the GS version...

I saw the TT seat extension just go on ebay and now wish I'd have bid higher, but I didn't and don't think it's worth the new price.....

I like the look of GSA corbin seats but guessing nobody has a 2nd hand one of those floating about?

Many thanks

i to had the touratech adv seat on my standard 1150 unfortunately i found it awful couldn't get on with it at all,,sold it and bought an 1150 adv seat and rack thought that was all i needed :blast but there was a few other bits required which i had to get from bm dealer and all these wee bits add up ,, as awfers said i am sure you would not have much trouble finding someone to do a swap with :thumb2

I just about finished swapping mine this evening... just need to re-key the lock barrel so I no longer need another key.

If you are interested, I'll take a few shots of all of the parts that need to be changed etc etc.

btw, i got the complete change over (bar the seat) for 100 on ebay... rack and tool box/kit things all included for £100

If you're interested, I have a standard 1150GS seat kit for sale to convert a single seat GSA to a standard GS twin seat.

It includes the rack, toolbox and cover, seat/frame mounting components and lock mechanism, plus black front and rear standard seats in perfect condition. The only part I don't have is the rear bolt on grab rail which is readily available from motorworks etc if needed. Looking for £170 plus postage for the whole caboodle.

The touratech adv seat extension (which comes with a grab bar to replace the OEM one) is very good, although initially seems expensive.

I've had one on mine for a good couple of years now and Rosie regularly falls asleep on the back.....plus that extra few inches she can edge her bum backwards gives me plenty more room to stretch my own legs and be more comfortable/flexible with my weight distribution depending on riding 'attack profile' :augie

The only negative thing I have to say about the TT pad is that it holds water.....no matter if you have a cover on the bike, it will get waterlogged and as soon as she sits on it, her arse will get wet :blast

Apart from that, and the initial cost, it's a well made and worthwhile bit of kit :thumb

I swapped the standard seat for Adventure one and my Mrs reckons it's more comfortable and so do I .... the swap is very straight forward and can be done in about 20 mins, but you do need all the bits and pieces. The procedure is wel documented here

The only reason the Mrs would give the nod to buy the GSA in '05 was if I chopped out the standard seat and fit the Corbins we had on the 1150. Got a used seat frame/fittings from Steptoe and worked through it easy enough. 45,000 miles later and she's still a happy little chicken!

Things to remember:

I have a 32" inside leg and there's no way I could manage to reach the ground with standard shocks & Corbin seat as that stretches your thighs out initially (oo err Mrs!) so I chopped them out for Ohlins - this also meant getting an 1150 stand/centre stand. If you have long legs you'll save yourself lots of £'s and ignore the previous bllx :beerjug:

I have a sargent and a wunderlich ergo.... very nice. Never tried a corbin but very happy with the two mentioned above.

As agreed... the sea pics as follows..

it will be readily apparent what bolts you will need... but let me know if I can help.. I have to stop in the boat chandlers tomorrow and will be picking up some stainless bits and pieces.

What make are they, Jim? They look very comfortable. I've had my 1150 seats re-covered and fitted with gel inserts by Tony Archer, they're better but still uncomfortable after a long ride. I was thinking of going down the Air-Hawk route but I like the look of those :thumb2

Corbin's finest, finished in leather and a joy to sit on

Here's mine in vinyl - the GS twin seat version on an Adv (same mod as Jim's bike)

Here's another comfortable variation, Corbin's Adv single seat, again in leather on my other Adv bike

The pic by Johnny features the heated-seat version (Adv in foreground of his last pic). I used to have one of those which was v.good for the rider but not for the pillion. A serious problem I encountered with this seat was riding all the way back from Lands End to Yorks on a very cold/very wet day and had the heat on the seat which boiled the water in between the goretex and fabric thus scalding my inner-thighs - that took some accounting for:eek:
