Looking at a 2017 GS Adventure second hand.
The Gentleman says it is a seat height reduction model but he's not entirely sure. 840mm to 860 mm.
Is this just a lower seat option or is there suspension differences. I'm 6'2 so swapping seat is no bother but wouldn't want a lowered chassis model.
Any advice welcome.

If you can get the VIN number put it into the web site referenced as a "sticky" at the top of this forum. That will tell you if it is the lowered chassis version or not. I ordered the lowered version but wasn't quite certain that was what I had got, so checked it via the VIN which confirmed the exact build of my bike including the lowered chassis.

I see you have been looking for a wee while, have you tried Alan Dalziel at Parks EK ?. Ive bought 2 bikes in last 2 years both GSA's and found him really easy to deal with, plus you get the 2year warranty etc etc. He has 2 Black GSA's at moment which I think you would be happy with either.
Good Luck

This one is private but ticks the boxes fairly well. Only 5 months old so warranty is good. Thank you anyway.
Appreciated.
Will do the chassis thing to double check but have further information says it's standard height.

On the BMW configurator there is a low seat option and there is the reduced ride height option. You can tell a reduced ride height bike because the side stand is shorter (as well as the main stand legs).

Sorry... correction, only one option. I’ve just checked, on the GSA it’s called Seat Height Reduction. But it’s lowered suspension; different spring and suspension components which reduces the seat height. I swear that I’d seen a low seat option too! Must have dreamt it!!!

Strange! How come on the configurator for a Triple Black, if you select ‘Black Seat’ it tells you that you have to add ‘Seat Height Reduction’ ??? I thought that the TB already came with a black seat?! :nenau

There is an option to select just a low seat on a standard suspension bike in the case of the GS, so I wonder why you can't do that for the GSA? With the GS if you select the option which gives you the lowered suspension it automatically adds the low seat option because that is included in the lowered chassis spec - and there is no option to add a different seat - if you try to it wants to remove the low suspension option.

My lowered bike came as standard with a low seat even though I didn't want one. The dealer offered to swap it out for a standard seat, but I kept it as I was fitting the Exclusive Comfort Seats anyway and reckoned there would be more demand for the low seat if I wanted to sell it.

(Ash/Fred , I think the TB comes with a "exclusive comfort seat" as standard. It's slightly two tone with grey sides.... so maybe that's why the configurator shows a black seat alternative ?)

Yes - I thought that too because my exclusive seats are two tone, though when I looked on the configurator the TB seat appeared to be all black - though maybe that's just a limitation of the configurator display, though the red bike has partly red seats, so I can understand it being an option for that.

On the GS you can order the low seat when specking the bike from new, it then comes with the standard height suspension.

At 6’2” I’ve found dropping the seat to its lower setting beneficial when touring, as it puts me a tad lower behind the screen to reduce buffeting.

The GS triple black comes with exclusive seats, which are two tone, as standard. The GSA triple black does not come with exclusive seats and there is no option to order them. The exclusive seats are more comfortable and look better imo. They should be standard
on the GSA but they are not

You can order the exclusive seats as an aftermarket gig, I did via my dealer.

Not working with mine now either, hopefully it is a temporary problem and it will start working again. I seem to remember I had some trouble using it back in March. Despite some googling today I haven't found any other free website that works and wouldn't trust the paid for ones. In case it is of interest, the following is the list of info that can be obtained - with 499 being the lowered suspension and 776 the low seat. Maybe if you ask a dealer nicely, possibly the original supplying dealer would be best bet, they could look that up for you against the VIN or registration number.

Just out of interest, does anyone know how the GS and GSA compare regarding height? I've got a feeling that the standard GSA is taller than the standard GS with more suspension travel, so lowered suspension on the GSA may equate to standard suspension on the GS.

Yes you can Pablo but they’re quite pricey. Still think they should be standard on both the GS and GSA triple blacks
