Last one...:)

Also I thought my 12RT had better seats that previously but after a trip or two I find this is a crap assessment... They are still piss poor... I have standard height heated seats and want alternatives... The Sargeant ones are pricey and still not built for me... They look better but are a big punt...

I wonder if anyone has had Tony Archer etc rebuild their seats...? I am after another inch or so of height, wider more arse shaped profile and still heated... A similar job on the back will also be necessary... I missed a rebuilt one on ebay a while ago 'cos it looke a bit scruffy but wish I had gone for it as it was tons cheaper that alternatives... Anyone with one gathering dust is welcome to let on...:)

I'll answer then...:) I have spoken to Tony Archer and his very plain speaking attitude (and a Pan man I used to know) fills me with confidence... Seats off to him the start of the week etc...

I have a spare 12rt front seat that he can use if you want.
It was purchased as a project, but never got around to doing anything.

It's plastic and structure is great, but the foam was removed and it's a good base for him to use.
Only want postage for it, and you can have the heated element as well.

PM me if you want.

Any update

I would be very interested to know how you got on with tony archer. I'm needing about an inch or more adding to the seat on my 1200LC. I have a 36" inseam so lowered pegs and raised seat it is. Any updated info would be appreciated. Cost, time, quality etc, etc.
Thanks.

Tony archer

Tony is a lovely guy
He's a biker and seems to know what bikers want
He's done loads of seats for me and mates
I'm happy for him to do my seats

I've recently bought a wunderich seat and finding it great.. My trip is 260 miles each way every week and no problems with sore arse anymore.

Damm I phone... Sent before finished..

Meant to add I have a spare front seat if anyone needs it. It's the air cooled 2013. Price of postage and its yours.

I got on great with tony and his wife... He was on holiday initially and then turned two seats around pronto... They are deeper and excellently finished al la sargeant shape... He refitted the heat elements and everything is spot on.. The price was amazing next to replacement seats and vfm is amazing... I will post pics but am away testing it all on a uk tour...:)

10/10... Top craftsman and they were lovely to deal with:)

Cancelled my order for Sargent seat and dropped my spare seat off with Tony Archer and co.

Good chat with his son and should get the seat by the end of next week. He listened to where I had pain on long rides and gave suggestions as to where he would make changes.

No rude (take it or leave it we don't care etc) just good customer service and value for money.

Pic of Tony Archers work as promised a while ago... The seats are expertly finished and after a 1750+ mile trip around the UK they have been proven very effective... The workmanship is excellent and the support is totally different... Tony followed my brief to the letter.... "Like the Pan Euro ones on your website"...:)

Was booked in to Tony Archer's a few weeks ago following recommendations. Although a nearly 2 hour trip each way, I arranged to get there early and wait until finished. Fortunately, I decided to phone the afternoon before, because he couldn't do the seat for personal reasons (just as well I checked).

After trying other searches on line, I found this site by chance on another forum link - this is his site: http://edblade.simpl.com/. Went and had a chat and look around as it is just up the road.

Ed has been repairing/altering bike seats for about 12 years, mainly work brought in from the local bike shops, but is trying to branch out on his own. He has only just set up a web site so it was quite hard to find.

My low seat on my 2014 R1200RT LC was ok for spells of 2 hours during the trip to Colditz/Dresden but I wanted to try to make it a bit more comfy and have it re covered whilst I was at it. I spent 5-6 hours with him the other Saturday and he spent time trying different grades of foam and making a cover that I was happy with. I think he has made a good job of the cover, and I've still got to try a distance ride but it feels better already - £210 all in.

I thought I'd post his details in case anyone in the Lincoln area is interested. I've attached a few before/after photos.

That looks like some nice work, im assuming all the heating is still as effective ??
Might have to pop and see him.

That was my main worry, but in the end it was surprisingly easy to do and everything still works ok.

I've still not had a proper long distance ride to check the change of foam for increased comfort but I'm expecting it to be better. Certainly worth popping in to see ED if you get the chance as I see you are close.
