I guys, I'm Fabio from Italy and I'm new to this Forum.
I'm the happy owner of a MY 08 R 1200 GS ... so happy that I want to buy the GSA!
However, Th GSA is heavier and has a higher seat: I'm thinking of reducing the height on the original seat.
Is it wise or should I buy another seat (i.e. Touratech)?

Thank you in advance for your advices and Ciao, Fabio:augie

It is heavier and it does have a higher seat, however riding them back to back I found the GSA more stable and easier to manage at low speeds. Hooch off the side of the seat a bit to get a firmer footing when you stop and riding one really isn't much different than riding the standard bike.

I have the Wunderlich seat on my GSA, which is a bit lower, and also better sculpted to allow your feet lower.

It does tend to push you forward a bit, though - so you don't have the ability to move fore and aft on the seat the same as on the standard one.

Adam yhank you for your advises, everything correct but weight and height would count when you want to manouver slowly ... hovwever, I'm pretty sure I'll buy a GSA

No. In my experience it carries it's weight better than the lower bike at low speeds where it is much more stable, and the height (and weight for that matter) only comes into play when you stop (unless you drag your feet around when riding slowly, in which case learn to ride;)) so just ensure you plan where you come to a standstill.

I have the Touratech extra low seat. it is very hard, but you get used to it, and it's surprisingly comfortable, but i do like a firm seat. I can now put both feet on the floor and I feel that the bike handles better, but this might be physiological.

A lot of people appear to rate the Sargent seat highly.

Hope this helps.
