It was never hard for me, even with the Sargent or Corbin seat.

Why do BMW make it so feckin' impossible to get the dam rider seat back. :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire

I thought that I had mastered it until last night, but oh no.........1/4hr later still trying to get the friggin thing back on.

I have to say, what a utter and complete shite design. :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire

It would not be so bad if you could see where the problem area was and at least then you could maybe "fettle" it :augie

It's only about 10 times easier to get on than an 1150! :D

Mine has always been a bit of a faff to get on and off.:blast

Getting it off always required several hard thumps to release the locking mechanism.

Put it back was always a hit and miss affair.

Then on Saturday last week it gave up the ghost, nothing would get it to lock down at the back tried it on high and low but no way.

My wife had a go....no joy

My neighbour had a go...still no joy

Hell even my neighbours wife had a go but to no avail.

So a number 1 regulation bungee was employed.

A trip to SBW on the Monday and even they couldn't get it to fit!

New locking mechanism etc on order

When I took a 1200GS for a test ride, I pulled into a lay-by near Brands Hatch and thought I'd have a good inspection out of sight of the dealer, while I had a fag.

Took the seat off. Do you think I could get the fecker back on? I struggled for about 30 mins, getting more and more stroppy, thinking I'd either have to phone the dealer, or balance it on and ride back slowly and carefully (thereby missing out on the main purpose of test ride - getting to thrash someone else's bike!).

Eventually threw the bloody seat at the bike in disgust and it clicked in.

I've never had a problem on my bike - just look down the front of the seat, between seat and tank to make sure the bar locates on the supports.

Robin - think you've hit the nail on the head here! :aidan
Someone else commented on the toolkit - but you can easily remove this to see if that is the problem.

I use mine high at the front & low at the back.Used to have probs re-fitting it 'til I sussed that all the gubbins in the tooltray was interfering (autocom stuff & extra tools in the toolroll + handbook) so I've rationalised the stuff in the tooltray & get no problems now though I find I have to pay attention when replacing the seat so as to get it in the correct position before latching it in.

Had this problem with mine last week. On closer inspection, the clips that lock the seat had been bent slightly off vertical. A bit of brute force to relalign and sorted.
