can any one help ? i have a 1200gs with a standard seat i test rode a gsa with a standard seat and found it a lot comfier is it just me or is there a difference. also tried same gsa with a low seat better again. thanks for any input guys and girls

Definately I found the standard seat on the GSA much better than the GSA seat.

I have to use a GS low seat, ( the non ajustable one ) on my GSA.
Without it I would fall over.

Me too. GSA seat was too high by far for me - had to back the pre-load off so much that it made me feel sea-sick and I toppled over when paddling the bike backwards on the first day I had it!

The GS low seat and a plain black GS pillion pad look fine and I reckon it has reduced the seat height by about 75mm - which was just right for a 31" inside leg as I can now put one foot flat down or the balls of both feet down. About the same as my old GS with the standard GS seat on high.

As a chap with plenty of 'natural padding' I find it perfectly comfortable for all-day riding.

I use the same set up (I have a 30" inside leg)

I used the standard GSA seat for a year which was fine, if a little tall, up to a 150 miles then the pain started, so I used an airhawk as well, which extended the pain range by another couple of hundred miles, but left me on the tips of my toes.

When I changed to the GS low seat, I thought I would suffer more due to the lack of padding, but reasoned I could use the airhawk on trips. The exact opposite happened the low seat is very comfortable up to a tankfull (300 ish miles) i would still use the airhawk on real long trips but its nowhere near the "essential" item I thought it would be:thumb

Hi Shep

I have an 07 1200 GSA and find that the standard seat gets rather uncomfortable after 75 to 100 miles. I have thought of having a gel pad fitted and the seat recontoured. Before i do this i was wondering what an airhawk is and what it does.

The Airhawk is a air cushion pad, I got mine from Bykebitz in Yateley but if you do a search or google it you will find alot of info:thumb
