Looking for some advice on seats, went for a 300 mile round trip yesterday and was so uncomfotable, currently have a 52538382580 fitted which I assume is the std height (820mm), seen on other forums they say the sport (840mm) is a game changer. Seen some 2nd hand ones but part No 77348555886 does not match my 2024 model, it says 52538382581. Is this compatable? Are there any other seats worth looking at?

Thanks

Steve.

Make your own seat cushion bit of memory foam cut to shape, cover with a good quality waterproof type fabric, couple of retaining straps sewn on....saves ripping off the staples on OEM seat, cutting a hole for the memory foam then having to stretch and re-applying the original seat covering.
It is do-able yourself but easier to place a cushion under you, or buy a ready made seat topper, or as many long distance butts use, a sheep-woollen rug again cut to shape.
Other option is going for a Sargant seat, I read on here, they are very good and comfortable.

Like finding shoes that suit, its personal... NB I am 1.7m tall and 98 kg in my riding gear, and ride around 12-24,000 miles pa.
I have both OEM seats.
Usually I find the Std one better shaped, but too thin to keep me comfy beyond 100-120 miles. Meaning that after a cuppa and snack it soon becomes touchy, and I need the next stop to closer, and so on.
The 'Comfort' seat is a terrible shape and basically 20mm more of the same that simply doesn't work for me. SoI have sent it away to be modified by Elite MC Seats in Sussex https://www.sussexmotorcycles.com/elite-comfort-motorcycle-seats.html - so time will tell.

On my 1250RT I found a Sargent seat was better shaped than the OEM, but hard as a park bench.
If you get hold of a spare at a decent price, do try a DIY or postal re-shaping

Good luck

I am pretty much convinced that just riding more reduces the seat discomfort. Basically one’s arse gets hardened to it.

We’re all different.

Me and my bike have been comfortable friends for several years now.

I’m 1.73m (5’7”)

Use the high 840 seat. Cool Cover of course.

Lowered pegs. For maximum leg stretch.

Short screen to let the breeze hit my torso and take all the weight off my wrists.

Hot grips. Cruise control mandatory.

I can ride hundreds of miles in a day and be quite comfortable at the end.

My longest non-stop ride was 205 miles in 4.5 hours.

You just have to tune the bike to fit your shape.

I've just hot a good deal on an 840mm Wunderlich active comfort seat, so far it feels good, off on 750mile trip next weekend so see how it fairs. Still want to try a Sargent but finding one is tough.
