After a new seat for my 1150GSA. Have read all the posts (a 3 cup of tea session:confused: ) Looking like a sargent seat is favorite but could be an expencive mistake. So any one in the Greater Manchester area got one on a 1150 Adventure I could have a look at and may be try for bottom compatability:D Or better still one to sell.
Thanks

Ted, before you blow all your dosh on a seat why noy try an Airhawk cushion. Definitely the dogs danglies and very nice to your chalfonts/farmers:thumb

I fitted a standard 1150/1100 back end to my GSA and use a pair of Corbins.
I tried a ADV Corbin but didn't get on with it

Seven years of 1150 ownership has shown this is the way to go..for me:thumb2

That's a nice looking setup you got there Timolgra - I'm very interested to know whether it's any lower than the standard Adv setup.

I have a corbin on mine, if you want a look/trial am in Blackburn drop me a pm.
Although it is lower it is wider so you end up not being any closer to the floor.

Hi Ted,

You may have read my posts about seats?

I tried the Sargent and did not like it, to wide being the problem. Sad, coz it really was made very well.

The Corbin fitted me superb, but a hell of a price. Plus, it was made shite. :spitfire

As has already been suggested, IMHO the best way to go is to fit the split 1150 twin seats. :thumb

The only reason that I didnt do it, is that the ali GSA top box will not fit onto the std 1150 rack.

But if you need anymore info, please feel free to call me, 07761 786828.

Baglux, the people who make the tank bags etc, also make seats through a UK company called Bagster. I saw them on a trade stand at the NEC last year and stopped to look, only because of the quality which caught my eye.
Had a chat with a 'very nice man' and a closer look at the GS seat which was on display. These are really nice pieces of well made kit, that can be made with gel inserts.
I am going to get one made up and will post a before and after photo/report.

Hi Mark. Had a look at the Airhawk stuff at the GMex, do you have one? not sure about them though still quite expencive an would rather go for the full seat you know me and keeping the bike tidy ;)
Thanks for the offer Newbie I will bear that in mind but there seem to be issues with the weight and quality never mind the cost on Corbin seats but may just have a look any way. I did read all the report you did BTBR must have cost a fortune, but do like the twin seat idea I also thought you could not use the Adventure ally top box with it, is it a big job 2 wheel?

Lots of info there and thanks, any more seats to try :D

Mark will call in for a coffee next week, off to the Garage now to give the bike a clean its very dusty in there and I think I spotted a fingerprint on the nearside mirror  :D :D

This is my standard GS (despite Adv tank graphics - thanks to 2wheel humvee) with full ally pannier system. The pillion seat still fits no problems.

liposuction or botox/impants, depending on yer need to lower or raise...keeps the bike looking standard...;)

this is what I did

p+p in birmingham will cut down and recover the standard seat for about £140, add gel inserts it comes to £205 including postage, it comes with a lovely nonslip finish
I tried the adv corbin but due to its width you don't gain anything, plus the heated one weighs a ton and there's nowhere to put your toolkit

then if you are still struggling with height swap the adventure shocks for standard gs.I'm 5'10 and this set up allows both feet flat on the floor, this is essential with my piss poor off roading capabilities.
you will need the centre stand aswell

post piccies if you are interested

Yes it is lower, I have mine on the high setting and it's perfect for me at 6 foot.

With bar risers and lowered footrests you get the feeling of sitting 'in' the bike rather than perched on the top with the standard seat.

Some say the front of the seat is a bit wide for standing, that's not a problem I've encountered and I ride off road quite a lot.

The pillion seat also gets the thumbs up:thumb
