my new 08gsa arrives soon and was wondering if the seat off the standard 12gs would fit?[i find it comfier] also does anyone know how much they are new? ive been looking on fleabay and they seem to be going for well over £100,

Round figures, I think the front seat is about £170 inc. VAT, new from a dealer.
That, plus the fact many are not used for more than a few hundred miles before swapping (so are as new) seems to be the reason they sell for £100+ in auction. Keep an eye on site as they do seem come up for less now and again.

To be honest you'd be far better off going for a sargent seat or similar, the standard GS seat may feel a bit softer at first, but give it an hour in the saddle and you'll probably think it's just the slightly lesser of two evils
Personally I've found every BMW seat I've tried to be really uncomfy after an hour. I've never had a BM for more than a couple of weeks with the standard seat on

thanks for that, i was thinking of replacing the adventure seat with a standard seat because for me its very comfy,
ive just traded in my 30000mile 05 12gs for the adv.
i could spend all day on the old seat without too much bother, and frequently did, in fact im just back from a 8000mile in 4 weeks ride to west africa and had no bum pain,
it may be that i find the adv seet as comfy but thought it wouldnt hurt! to have both if i could get one cheap enough.
out of interest though what are the other after market seats like and how much.

Fair do's, Didn't realise you'd been happy with a standard GS seat before 
Sargent's are superb, they are a bit expensive, about £265 from what I remember. I couldn't get on with the standard seat but the sargent I could happily do 500 miles and not even so much as think about my backside, and then the next day I could quite happily get back on no problems too Best £265 ever spent for me.
