Been trying for a couple of hours now to fit the seat. I can get it locked with a fair bit of faffing around, but it rattles about a good bit. It won't actually lift off but seems far from secure and there's a gap of about an inch and a half between the nose of the seat and the tank. Can't believe this is right!

This is the front portion of the seat only. No problem when I add the rear section, everything is as tight as a drum then.

Thought I would stop and ask on here before I hurl it into the next county!

Wot am I missing?

Sounds as though you have it on the top slot at the front and the bottom slot at the rear, rattles like a good 'un then.

Took me a year to work mine out. For the first 11 years of its life it would appear previous owners had fitted the seat incorrectly. They actually overtime bent the seat. I spent quite a bit of time with a heat gun getting it back in shape. As was there was always a 1 inch gap at the front when fitted correctly.

Fitting the seat correctly can be a bit of an art. I fit at the front first then slowly slide it back slowly until it drops in position. That leaves it on the high setting. Even with my short legs that's the best option. Reduces the discomfort due to the high pedal height.

Check the lock mech as it can become detatched from the rail. I have the same issue with mine, been trying all sorts to correct it, let me know if you sort it out:D

Thanks guys. Pillion back on meantime to preserve my sanity. Going to walk away for a while.......
