Ok my question is can I fit a timer of some sort to my outdoor hot tub , as it's just myself mostly , I would like to be able to shut down the machine for 6 hrs or so during night . And switch on early afternoon ready for me around 10 :ChrisKelly:ChrisKelly

Don't see why not, check the the rating (WATTS) and buy a timer to suit.

I recon a standard immersion timer would do the trick so long as the hot tub dosen't out rate the timer and the timer is indoors or a suitable outdoor rated electrical box

Again depends on the loading of the hot tub it may only be 13 amp's in which case a immersion heater timer would do or it may be 20 amp and probably has a feed straight from the consumer unit and if there are enough Spare ways then a din rail mount timer and contractor could be monted in there

It's wired from separate box indoors , I know it has heavy duty cable to take current , so what's that mean , and could I fit clock beside the box in metre box . .??

right im a spark well sometimes other times im a cowboy so the lads tell me .
first if u mean can u put in inside meter cabinet thats a no .
if u mean next to it inside thats a yes.
when u say heavy cable il assume u mean 6sq cable that tells me its a 32amp load, so u need a 40 amp contactor which will switch the load, switch the live and the neutral for safety, then use any time clock to switch on the contactor,
if stuck on wireing go to your local electrical wholesaller and ask an electrician at the counter to show u how to hook them together most will oblige .

Had a spark out on Thursday and is happy to fit the set up as described , will leave it to experts . Will see if it helps to reduce the bill
