Hi, I'm looking for a second-hand replacement ESA rear shock for my 2015 R1200GS LC model (manufactured on 01/09/2015). The part number on the current shock is 854888401 - 2015 02. Can anyone tell me which years are compatible with my bike? I've also seen several listings on eBay UK for R1250GS and R1200 Adv shocks and I'm wondering if one of them will fit. Thank you in advance.

as mentioned above a refurb is much better - cheaper and will work, vs the 2nd hand unit also failing in the near future.

I had mine done very recently, and Lukas turned it around very quick - i had it back within 3 days!

Thank you, and yes, my intention is to get the old one refurbished. Unfortunately, I use the bike every day, so I'm looking for a quick swap of the shock. I can replace the shock myself, which will take about a couple of hours. So I'm really asking which years of shocks will fit my bike. I have found a BMW R1200GS Rear Shock Absorber ESA Strut 7727620 K50 2013. Will this fit on a 2015 model? Thanks again in advance.

Can TTech do a ride in-ride out service by arrangement?

He is based in New Addington, Croydon so within riding range of you in London, why not get in contact and see what he can do for you ??

Why spend money on a second hand unknown unit if you can use a ride in-ride out service, these shock absorbers really don't come cheap and many are well worn within 30k.

Get front and rear serviced at the same time. I got my rear serviced on my last bike and the front went within six months afterwards so I had to do the job twice.

His pricing on eBay:

If you use an online BMW parts fiche such as maxBMW, you should be able to note down the part numbers between similar bikes and see what is common between models (if any) such as K50/K51.

Or you could try calling a breakers like Motorworks or Sherlocks and ask for asvice and pricing on a used unit ?

Hello All members!
Lukasz Tetich (denz0) founder of T-Tech Suspension.
As you know, I spent most of my time servicing and upgrading BMW suspension .
That includes dyno testing with all the data to buckup my work and test riding .
I can see a lot of people struggling with those shocks.
As mentioned above, used shock =REPETED manufacture faults and old burnd out oil.

If not covered under warranty, set of new OEM dampers cost more the set of high performace TracTive upgrade.

I've spent three years developing replacment internal parts to solve the most common problems on all LC shocks .
Right now, sealblocks revision #3 with added heavy duty dust seals DP4 coated gude bushes and Viton seals with PTFE buckup rings ,all aluminium internal parts and replacment gas caps.
For the front dampers I Have also added reservoir extender and compression valve clamping due to 90%of internal failure of front dampers that drastically reduces the performace and can't be detected unless shock is dyno tested , compered with working unit.
Service with upgrades combined with correct springs for the rider weight can make those shocks noticeable better.
This is the best I could do to improve OEM shocks ,the only think I can't change is the piston size and oil volume of the shocks. If there are riders looking for more performance, I can take one more step further and replace the OEM with 46MM piston Tractive Suspension all plug and ride ESA compatible dampers.
This is a nice performance upgrade that doesn't cost more than full titanium exhaust or a good set of Denali lights ,unlike other upgrades, suspension upgrads can make your bike more responsive, comfortable and take seconds of your lap time if you one of those who chases the sport bikes on the twisties in Wales.

I'm in the process of including all available upgrades on my website to help riders see all options and prices in one place .

Back to the topic .
If you are looking for used dampers, replace it with the latest you can find ! Avoid corroded ones !
90%of damper failure is related to the component corrosion.
This is why 9K miles damper failure is not uncommon.
Most of the shock fails around 30K or 5-7 years (that came to me for a service)
Salt contamination is a big factor !
Clean bikes usually last much longer.
I know pople will be reporting mine done 90K I know ! I also know how they look inside at that milage.

All years and 1200/1250LC models shocks will exchange from 2013 to 2023 could be slightly different length(2mm) on the Autolevel models, but it will fit and calibrate.

Simple test with pushing on the bike with the ignition OFF will show faulty damper !
If you would like to confirm It just push on the bike and relise
If the suspension tops out and knocks (no rebound damping ), the shock is faulty.
If the damper is not performing as it should
Most riders will report similar symptoms.
1-Traction control engaging very often and lighting up on the dash .
2-knocking when riding over the potholes or speedups (no rebound)
3-lack of traction lose rear or front end could feel like lack of pressure in the tyres ,wheel skipping over very small stuff .
4-oil leaking, but this is usually the last stage when you find oil on the garage floor. Most people at this point know something is wrong.
If you have any other questions please let me know ill try to answer to the best of my knowledge. Photos of what I usually find below and how is solved.

Lukasz is a suspension Pro, a specialist and a Gentleman. His reputation depends on the quality of his work to which I can attest to.(y)
He took my wrecked OE forks and rear shock and transformed them. His knowledge is certainly not something that you are going to find at a retailer or at a bmWobble-U dealership.
Speak to him then listen- he knows his trade. Top 'banana' in my book.
