I was at the freezing cold "Haggis Bash" Classic Bike Autojumble at Lanark today.

There were a couple of things of interest . . .

Spotted these in the car park and in the For Sale hall (I have put the chair pics on Trippy's thread):

This fellow - John Rogerson - was selling what appeared to be a complete 1979 R100 RT in bits.

I know this should really be in the FS&W but I am only passing on the info in case any of you 'Special' builders is interested.

I don't know how much of it is left - but it might be worth a phone call if you're interested.

This was also for sale - but unfortunately I didn't get the details (too busy talking at the time :blast ).

As usual, there was some right old tat there - both for sale and in the bike park :D.

I wasn't going to post this as it might give someone a heart attack :D

I think it looks rather nice, don't know how well it goes with a Yamaha engine though.

I didn't ask the price :augie

Happy building :thumb2

Bob.

That engine looks like a good deal. Are all these twin airheads interchangeable, so that if I got my hands on a one needing a rebuild and rebuilt it would it then fit into my R100GS?

Main differences are Heavy or Light Flywheel.
Early engines [up to IIRC 1982 ] are made of proper metal.
Later light flywheel models seem to be made of poorer grade of monkeymetal and studs pull out of the block if you ain't careful:eek:
60K engine is just run in :thumb2
They tick over so sweetly with heavy flywheel down as low as 300 rpm :eek

So it sounds like the mounting holes are all in same place and swopping to an old engine would work. ( not that I could be bothered to do such an exercise at present but its always nice to know these sort of things, just in case:thumb2)
