This is from my 1190R but could well apply to any 1190/1290 :nenau

I took my wheels out last night to get new tyres fitted and the rear spindle was seized in solid. It took a lot of brute force and ignorance (lump hammer and wooden blocks) to slowly drift it out.

Having just now investigated it would seem the spacer had corroded onto the spindle. The photo below is half way through dressing the parts but I think you'll get my drift. The spindle wasn't exactly covered in grease but it wasn't bone dry either.

I guess it might be worth checking yours incase it's poor quality chrome on the spacer as opposed to poor PDI?

Look like dissimilar metals to me. Corrosion is inevitable unless there's some protection.

Just looked at it again and it's defo poor chrome plating as it's starting to go on the outside/in the shoulder.

No drama, I'll order a new one tomorrow :)

his bikes are sold before needing a tyre.

Silly boy!:D

I've taken no pleasure in reading about this issue with Andres bike.:rob

Perhaps the dealer will gift you one under warranty? (or give you a 'proper' spacer to use) ;)

Shit happens, I'm not a fecking WBM "this bike's not fit for purpose" owner ;)

Anyway, I like the ickle hand written receipts they give me when I buy things from them...........

Just clean it up and put some grease on it :beerjug:

Well funnily enough ..... I changed my front tyre last week, and I remember knocking the spindle the first 1/2 inch and then pulling it out from the other side ... just. And i remember thinking .... I'll grease that well before I put it back!

(and yes ... I've got the red silkolene grease too ... )
