Rear Spindle Cover by R & G

Had one but swapped it

R&G stuff has served me well over the years! Did get the bit of water accumulation using it. That was me being aggressive jet washing not from the road.

Now swapped it for a lever guard.

Main reason went for a pinch pin and chain after all thefts on the forum in London. Lever guard worked before Xmas as I was hit and the bike went over. Have to admit if I didn't need the pinch pin would go back as it looks better.

Thanks, that was my reason for fitting in the first place, after reading that thief scum stick a scaffolding pole through the hole to lift it on to back of a van . I was concerned that it revolved with the wheel and touched the hub. I didn't tighten it too much to compensate. It was only afterwards I thought about it possibly being problematic.

Good point and sorry I didn’t pay that much attention to revolving and touching the hub. I more of a torque, forget and go. When I swapped it, there were no marks etc.

Looks good. I've just trawled the web, R&G and Wunderlich and can't find this. Any chance of a link please.

What length is your pinch pin?

Definitely worth getting something to protect the final drive housing - be it the R&G or the lever guard. When I trashed the front end of my bike and the bike was on the ground, because it was still in gear and the engine running, it was doing a pirouette around the peg, scuffing the housing on the road in the process. That little show added about £1,200 to the estimate and probably tipped the total to be a write-off :blast

What length is your pinch pin?

I have two pins
Out and about - 250 mm pin. Shrink wrapped it myself. It goes with a 16mm, 2M length chain plus squire lock. Be careful the pin doesnt fit all 16mm & 19mm) chains. Whole thing is a tight fit with squire lock but then makes it bloody hard to attack the lock.

One in the photo is a 300mm as chain goes through anchor with both ends on the pin.

Thanks FB. I'm still using the longer pin that went through the body of my R1200 R and I've bee meaning to get a shorter pin for the garage.
