Sena SMH10 advice needed.

Ok peeps, ive just bought a Sena SMH10 and SR10 hub with PTT switch. My questions are as follows....what order do i connect everything up in bluetooth wise ? Im using a Nav 4 and a smart phone, Galaxy S3 along with a Kenwood radio for bike too bike comms. Any adivce will be gratefully accepted. My current setup works well......Autocom Pro AVI with Bluetooth module but ive decided to go wirefree.

hi Delboy,I've done something Similar ..i use the SR10 but with the Autocom Air …the make and model of bluetooth headset dont really matter ,but i would expect the two Senas to connect quicker ?

i use my system for a Kenwood radio and to listen to the music that i have put on my BMW satnav IV and to answer the phone ….so

the radio PTT is a separate thing really cos it is "wired" to the SR10 …I connect the phone to the Navigator ( the music is on a card in the Navigator , ) then i connect the Nav and SR10 to the Air system …it took a few times and a bit of trial and error to get them to connect , but once paired and running , the next time i turned them on they all found each other and worked fine

One fault i had was with my iPod, I have a bluetooth dongle on that, and took it out one day when testing the radio and phone set up…the sr10 played up quite a few times and the signal kept dropping…i then realised it was looking for bluetooth items like the iPod…i put this away, turned all off and on again and they paired and worked fine .

in the first week of this set up , i was getting frustrated ..it was a nightmare and I nearly went back to the auto com wired system .Have faith mate it will come good in the end ..are you getting on ok with it now ?

Dave i havent tried it yet. My SR10 and extension PTT cable only arrived from Germany this week so havent got round to trying it yet. Im about too convert my Kenwood radio TK3301 to accept an external antenna which i have fitted to the bike already. I know there is a certain order that you connect things up with the system making the SR10 the "primary" i think. Now that it has arrived i will have to RTFM lol

could you keep me posted on the external antenna please..its on my list of winter things to sort out…how you did it and if it gave a better range etc

Will do. But the parts for converting the kenwood are fairly difficult to find. I havent done mine yet because its taken months to source the proper seals from Japan.

You can do this a number of ways. I have an SMH5 with an SR10, and I connect the maximum number of devices as follows:

1) Mobile Phone - connect using Mobile Phone pairing (which gives hands free and music although I don't use the music)
2) SR10 - connect using Multipoint pairing (effectively a hands free device)
3) Intercom - connect to another SMH5

On the SMH5 this is the maximum number of connections you can have. The unit routes things according to priority as follows:

Phone
Intercom
Music

In reality, it just works and whatever is sending to the unit comes through. I can't remember what happens if you get radio at the same time as intercom but in reality I use one or the other. If you want to connect the Nav 4 and your phone you might have to pair the phone to the Nav 4 then connect the Nav as the phone, but I tried this with disappointing results - I found direct connection to the phone was much better so ditched the Nav audio (it just distracted me anyway !)
