Separating R100GS Square Headlamp from Carrier

I've had the R/H dip continental Headlamp on the GS that it came with from Germany. I wasn't too pushed about fitting the spare L/H dip one I had as I rarely ride in dark, there's no bike MOT here in Ireland and I have an LED lamp with rotating element that flattens the dip angle. However I got a notion to do it today, what a PITA taking bits apart just to change a Headlamp, makes me appreciate what I'd say is relative simplicity in the older models round headlamp model but for this little job and also for fitting the HPN tank.

Anyway, does anyone know of a knack for removing the carrier from the headlamp? I suspect the plastic tabs ( white in photo) will snap if I try to force them. Are they available as a new part?

can you wrap around wire them back shut then draw it back through hole??

That’s was a good idea... I will file it away in the back of my brain and hope to remember it in future.

They are a fairly standard vw mk1 golf,bmw e30 etc car adjuster from the early 80's only a few quid each from e bay
