Out with some of the guys from the unofficial Spanish BMW club yesterday. We went to the Serra Cavallera. Thats the pre pyrenees, just above Ripoll.

I forgot to charge the batteries on my wife´s camera, so I pinched quite a few of these fotos from a friend of mine, Oscar.

I met up with Oscar, Santi David and Gustavo en route

Like the GXR-style racing hump, it really helps the bike cut through the air believe me.

to meet up with the others at a petrol station on the C17 that goes from Barcelona to Vic.

thats Oscar´s GS with the Phil Read replica. The bikes travelled a fair bit this year, Marocco, alps, picos,...plus lots of other national rides.

Santi (Joey Dunlop), Gustavo (Rallye 2 suit) and Oscar talking to Gustavo.

Santi is trying to turn his GS into a rat bike - he is doing a good job:D

If you ever find yourself in the area and want to eat like a king, go to El Baell, take the turn for Campelles on the national route between Ripoll and Ribes de Freser and you´ll find this lady Dolors Bofill. The best wild boar stew, rabbit, lamb chops, butifarra (sausage).

her dog pissed on every single bike there I think!

The man with his back to us is the mythical Stelvio (aka Joan), what he doesn´t know about Catalunya isn´t worth knowing. Also and expert on the alps and has climbed all the BIG mountains.

Another great guy, Carles Brotons. You can see that the "roads" are all cement. Basically they are tracks that were cemented over a few years ago-they are prety twisties and run through the woods and hills all around here. very nice, again thanks to Stelvio!

Hats off to Carles on his LT!

Bob - pretty good with a porron.

Carles Brotons, great with a porron!

part III

A rare remaining example of a "thing" (no idea what its called). This is what you put a cow in when you cut their hooves to stop them falling over.

Stelvio couldn´t find a cow so here he is explaining how its done with a donkey.

Now we know why Santi was always last!

you can see the route below:

Towards Queralbs and the Puigmal. See that lovely track going up the mountain - a little something for next weekend maybe!

9924107-M.jpg

They even have cows of the non-rubber variety up there.

The church of Sant Marti de Ogassa - the only church with Bronze bells in this part of Spain (Stelvio).;)

Well thats the end of the fotos if not the trip itself. Its a great area with diverse and brilliant routes, the food is fabulous, but it is starting to get cold. The first snows have come and some areas will receive snow down to 1000m in the next few weeks. We have maybe a couple more weekends up there before we leave it for next year.

cheers
