Sertao exhaust.

Remove it and replace with an after market can, with the standard system the left can is the cat the right is the silencer. Remove them both and replace with a new after market can on the left, a link pipe will also be required to attach the new can to the existing pipe, some suppliers include this with the can, others charge you extra for it.

Is this specific to the G650 and Sertao?

For the F650/Dakar most aftermarket pipes are a straightforward replacement; i.e. slip-on & clamp to the existing system pipe...

Here's my Staintune; fitted as-per the above

Not sure, but any system I have looked at for the Sertao requires a link pipe. I have not yet fitted one yet but am planning to, check those available on eBay and the ads say link pipe required if applicable, but on checking the fitting instructions for the G650 and the Sertao, it shows a link pipe.:nenau

Really wanted to keep the original pipes and convert the dummy one to a tool tube. I like the balanced look of the originals.

There is no dummy one, the left is the cat, gases flow through it to the silencer on the right. yes the cat is designed to look like a silencer but you cannot remove it and replace with the original from the right. You will have to fit an aftermarket silencer to the left in place of the cat, then install tool tube etc on the right if you wish.

Just de-catted the Sertao and fitted a Leo Vince slip on, in answer to some of the queries above, yes it does require a link pipe, but this was supplied with the can.
