in the middle of a trip to austria, serviced the bike and noticed that the rear pads were a bit thin. No problem, order and fit before I go.

I then forgot to order them on the last monday morning i was at home.

Coming down the Grossglockner today reminded me. checked my poi's on my trusty zumo and BMW kauffman was down the road in kaprun.

In my basic german I managed to get across what I wanted. the mechanic brought the pads from the stores and I went to the counter to pay.

"that will be 76 euro please"

won't be making that mistake again.

The brake pads were free, it was the ass reaming you were actually paying for.:D

oooh,
I bet that hurt:eek:, add in the 18 euros for the pass pass and that was an expensive day.
was the pass clear i did it in a blizzard on the 3 weeks ago:thumb.

I got stung for front pads in similar situation in Austria 2 years ago - about 120 euros for the four front pads......ouch!! Thought they had misunderstood me and that was the price for a caliper!! Was that shocked, I set off leaving my sunglasses on the pannier, realised just in time to see them being smashed by the only car on an otherwise empty road. :blast:blast
