hi,

picking my bike up this saturday and its the first time ive ever dealt with a bmw dealer, its going to have its 24k service prior to me picking it up.
spoke to the salesman today to ask what its having done, valve clearences, all the fluids changed etc and was told it will have done what it needs done?

i also asked as it has all the stamps from the same dealer im buying it from if i could have everything it has had done printed out to which he replied he wasnt sure how to do it??

am i being unrealistic asking for this?
should i ring the service dept and ask them regarding 24 k and the print outs?

Andy

salesman wont have a clue, service guy will , and no your not being unreasonable, ive used same dealer for last 3 years and its all on there system , also when i get a receipt for services it details most everything.:flag

Shoulda gone to dalkeith :-)

If all the servicing was done at Boldon, they WILL have it on their system and they can print it out. Whether they 'want' to print it out is another story.

Good luck on Saturday.

its from all jeffries mate, boldon did not have a 1200 in my budget, Almost bought an 800 off them but woiuld not give me the deal i wanted so i looked farther afield and luckely enough ended up getting a 12 ( what i really wanted ) for a peice that suited, also got a great part ex for my old bike

Totally agree :thumb2 the service dept however may claim they can't do it due to the Data Protection Act and it is at this point that you tell them you will not buy the bike without the invoice copies .... that should work :D

spoke to service dept today, says they are doing me a full printout of all the work they are doing for the 24k service but cant help with the older ones,

all fluids, valve clearences all done so im happy with that

roll on saturday

I did the same when I bought my first used GS last year from a guy in Hartlepool. It came from Jeffries and was originally sold in central london. All the stamps bar one were there and most of the receipts. I gave the service book to my friend in London who took it to the original dealer who stamped it and printed copies of all the service sheets. The bike system is not linked throughout the dealer network like the car system is (so I was told by several dealers) so tracing history can be a little trickey if the bike has moved around a bit. I also have just bought another bike, a 2010 GSA from Jeffries as Boldon wouldn't even talk rough figures without seeing my bike. Personally I wouldn't deal with Boldon sales as I don't like their attitude.

If they've serviced the bike then all the service history will be on their database ........ push a couple of buttons and Robert's yer mum's brother :augie

For what its worth in regard to Jefferies.

I recently took ownership of a 10 year old BMW that started off life at Jefferies then eventually went down south. The bike had absolutely no service record.

I contacted Jefferies and the service department who were able to supply the service dates and mileages in a brief outline for the first 5 years of the bike. They apologised for the brief details but it was due to them changing computer systems over so older records weren't as comprehensive.

So they will help if they can.

Haven't we all been there with computer systems changing and in particular Operating systems.

It staggers me that the servicing information for all BMW bikes isn't held on a central database.

I recently purchased Wapping's GSA which he bought and had serviced by BMW Park Lane.

One service (and FD replacement) was done by Vines and Park Lane cannot tell whether the spark plugs and generator pulley were replaced.

My local dealer, Cannon didn't have any data at all on the bike.

All motorbikes are easily identifiable (VIN or numberplate) - why can't BMW have a central database?

I decided to ride in this morning from near Colchester to Battersea to get the service done by Park Lane anyway (opens an hour earlier than Cannon and shuts half an hour later).

Guess who is going home by train as the bike isn't ready ....
