Hello everyone,
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem; over the last week or so i have noticed that when i switch on the ignition of my 2008 GS12 Adventure, the service indicator is flashing up. It started at 700 miles and is counting down in 100 mile intervals, it's now saying the bike needs servicing in 500 miles time:confused: The thing is, it was serviced on the 24th April, it had only covered 4,192 miles but as it was a year old the handbook said it should be done. Is it possible to reset the service indicator myself or does this mean an expensive trip to the dealer when i'm just about to lose my job?:mad::mad: Went to Scotland on it recently though and it was the perfect bike!!:D:thumb2:D
Cheers, Rich..
P.S. If anyone on here requires a HGV Class 2 driver or knows anyone that does, do drop us a line!:thumb2

Mine started the service count down thing recently but it had done 6000 miles and was due its service anyhow, after the service it has now stopped coming on, maybe the dealer forgot to reset it as it wasnt coming on at the time in your case
Take it to your dealer they should turn it off for you if you had the job done with them.:thumb2

As regards a job a good freind of mine who is also a member on here Tony MVS
he does alot of vehicle movements delivering cars and wagons on trade plates ect. all over the country, just send him a polite message asking if theres anything avaliable, it may only be part time but some work is better than doing nothing.
Good luck with the bike and job situation :thumb2

O know, that with cars, you can put the light out, with a certain combination of the controls and ignition. Ask you local BMW dealer. They might be able to tell you how to put the light out.

software only, dealer GT1 or after market GS911

Don't forget that BMW have two service intervals, a smaller service every year and a larger one at set mileages. If you're lucky then they'll both happen at the same time. Otherwise if you're like me you'll be all out of sinc and have two services a year.

I presume you have done about 5,500 miles now then?

The indicator is a mileage countdown to the 6,000 mile service.

I guess they just did a yearly service in April so you'll get it reset when you go for your 6,000 mile service soon :)

Tried disconnecting the battery? It works on the 650 twin, don't know how long but an hour would probbaly do. Best not forget to to the TPS reset afterwards.

I had the service indicator turn on about 6wks after my 6k service (when the bike was a year old) they just forget to reset it. Been blinking at me for 7months now!!

Small snag, the mileage is stored in a non volatile memory so it'll stay for ever but the date will eventually reset and then it's software to reset that:eek:
