OK I'm braced for sarcasm and abuse so here goes.

I'm doing some servicing bits for the first time on my 1150 adventure. So I've got the 12000 kit from motobins and it comes with three washers. All well and good, so one methinks must be for the sump plug and the other two? mmm not sure? Come to think of it I'm not sure about any of them 'cos none seem the same size as the sump plug washer that came off. 2 seem to be the same size and one a little larger. The larger one would fit the plug, its outer diameter is roughly the same as the old washer (maybe a little smaller) and its inner diameter is greater than the old one. Should I just continue with the old one? And what are the other two? I thought they might be for the gearbox plugs but they're too small.

I know these are dumb questions and I may be worrying over nothing but I'd just like to get it right!

Hey, I must have about 20 of these washers lying around my garage from the Motobins kits for my 1150 GSA. Never quite worked them out but haven't had any problems with leaks so not worrying about it.

Actually that last statement isn't quite true. Took out my oil filter once and didn't notice that the o'ring had not come out with it. Put in my new filter with new oring, tightened it and couldn't understand why the back end had suddenly got all slippery. Doh. The fact oil was p*ssing out might have had something to do with it. Off with the bashplate, drain the oil etc etc

2 O-rings do NOT make for good sealing properties. Never again.

Thanks stuyvpc, so are you saying that you just ignored the new washers and stuck with the ones you took off? I'm off to double check the O ring while there's no oil in!!

dont supose the washers could be for the gearbox and diff drain plugs by any chance? I'll find out no doubt when I service the airhead at the weekend ;)

I always replace the oil drain plug washer and when I change the gearbox and diff oil I (think) I use a couple of the others. I'll let you know in 2500 miles :)

if they are the same as the ones I got they are for the dif, the gearbox rings are bigger.
