My 2006 1200 is up for a service and MOT in April, its done 20K miles. I usually take my bikes to Cotswold BMW in Gloucester. TBH i've not priced it up yet but also looking at someone independent known to Tossers who do a good job at a reasonable cost and can stamp the book.
Would prefer someone this side of the severn or fairly close to Glos

BVM Moto Stroud

Buz,
Although have not had a service at BVM myself, have heard very good reports about them, and they have been extremely helpful with parts etc. Worth a quote.

Mark and Tim at BVM are the way to go. Bought several bikes from them and had work done by them and always been happy with the quality of service and workmanship and price I have paid for it.

Hi Buz i rang BVM the other month about servicing my 06 gsa they didnt ask any questions about bike or even millage just quoted a price i was not very impressed.

i then rang cardiff motorad they spent a good 10 mins getting all the info about bike and going over service levels far more impressive.

they now have my bike booked also £45 less than BVM

Another thumbs up for Mike at Cardiff Motorrad.

Drop the bike off, wander to the end of the road and catch a train/bus into Cardiff City Centre. National Museum/Art Gallery is free and a great place to while away a few hours. Do a bit of shopping or have a lunch in anything from a sushi bar to a church café. Or just sit in the corner drinking Mike's coffee and eating his biscuits whilst watching him tinker with your bike.

That bit sounds good, i know sod all about the mechanics of the bike so would like to see what they do :thumby:

steptoe is coming up for a service day at the end of april you can watch him tinker with your bike ask questions and eat donuts all day if you wish

:blast
had it Serviced last week....
May well pop over for a chat and some donuts :D

Ended up going back to Cottswold, MOT and Service £250, I had the 12LC bike for a days test as well. I had to get the MOT done and was strapped for time.

Think next year i'll get the MOT done and let Stepto service it at the Midlands do.

Thats not bad is it?

Probably not, they initially said no more than £200 then when i come to pay it was £250.
To be honest I didnt shop around so wouldnt know what price other places are charging.
Just checked the reciept and it was an annual inspection, not a service????

Did they exchange bodily fluids? does the oil look new? Id check that.

They charged £54 for the pleasure of it!

Heres a copy of the bill, wonder how it compares with others?
20,000 miles and only did 2,000 since the previous, March 2012
I assume the £29 sublet was the MOT as they took it somewhere else to get that done

Just glad I remembered to remove the top set of crash bars, I think dealers will charge labour for removing them as well. Fair enough really I guess.
I think i could manage the bodily fluid and filter changes, its the rest that would fox me, especially the checking/adjusting clearances

I reccomend BVM Nr Stroud

I have used BVM Moto last year for a 18000 service and new tyre on my GS1200 2007. Total cost inc vat and tyre was £316. (tyre alone was £120 so service under £200) Mike did a great job. I too had a loan bike for the day. Will use them again in preference to other BMW dealers much more local to me.
