Servicing the GS

That's nearly 5k miles on "Paddy" since i got it on St Pat's day. Time for a service and since its been a while since I worked on an airhead and have never been near a bean can or any post 81 model ... any tips gentlemen?

Such as ... Can I remove the oil cooler lump CW with the oil filter cover or do they have to be removed separately? Is it easier to whip off the exhausts as my nuts are greased and free?

In short, anything that the collective has learned that will save me time and skinned knuckles!

exactly the same as the earlier one Peter

I think it has a Bendy filter in there

Yours has non standard oil cooler and pipework

Just undo the pipes and note their orientation and let the cooler drain into a drain pan

Every month or so especially if riding in winter make sure and slacken and regrease the exhaust "Roses"
