Hello all,
Whats the score with changing the brake fluid on an 1150gs adventure with ABS? Should it be done annually or every two years?
One BMW place is saying one thing and another, the other!
Also does £400 sound reasonable for a 24k and annual service?

Cheers:)

According the BMW Maintenance Schedule its Annually. (Clutch fluid every two years)

Why not ...

... ride it up to SW London and let Steptoe save you a small fortune ?

Source....? My understanding is that for bikes with braided steel hoses, it's a change at the first 12 months and then every two years thereafter.

The service book says to change the fluid in the wheel circuit every 12-months (this is written in bold).

I have the whole system bled every 12-months (bought the bike in 2003 and this is now the only job I don't do myself) and Steve at Motoscot who now does this job for me says that in his opinion it is less regular fluid changes that cause some of the infamous Evo brake issues.

I include all the annual items in my standard 24K services.

Pointless not to when the tank is off anyway, especially when it only takes 20 minutes extra time. :D

And it's from £200 to £220 all parts and labour depending on model i.e. twin spark or servo etc. Book stamped and a free loan bike ..................

...and mine's just come back from Steptoe a completely transformed bike. Running WAY better than when I took it there on Monday evening. Can't recommend him highly enough. :thumb2
