Need an opinion from the collective please. My 1150GSA is taking me on a two week trip around andorra and spain in june.My bike has dealer service history but has only done 8500miles.I store it over winter(i know bollox ok)it wont be up for its 12000 by the time i go but its 6000 was way back in june 08.The Question is do i get the dealer to service it early or can they just do an oil change and a checkover,or do i get a specialist to give it a service and maybe a better job?Id appreciate your help and views and the obligatory p...staking,So what do ya think guys?:Motomartin

IIWY I'd get the dealer to do the 12k and Annual before I went. One less thing to worry about, apart from if they've messed up on it. The 12k service IIRC includes gearbox oil change, and my 1150's always seemed to be smoother after. Also you'll be certain the "right" oil is inside the engine.

All assuming you want to keep up the service history of the bike.

Engine oil and filter change plus rear bevel oil before you go and a 12k when you get back.

That's all I would do.

He's much too modest to say, but Steptoe is your man for the job. It would make for a good wee run out for you some day to that there Lahndun innit. :)

I know that things go tits up without warning but whenever I have a bit of a outing abroad or whatever I do all my jobs on the bike well in advance and just run it round for a few hundred miles before the big trip. I dont like to go near my bike with a spanner too near the launch time if you understand. Strange I know ....... :drool
