Hey guys:

After some problem with servo brakes, BMW don,t sell motorcycles in spain with this option, it is not posibly to buy here bmw motorcycles with servo brakes. The question is:

Have BMW taken off servo brakes system for all motorcycles in all countries, or just in spain ?
Can you buy in option with servo brakes there (U.K.) nowdays?

Thak you very much in adavance from Galician-Spain

The 2007 GS and GSA no longer havE servo assisted brakes. I am not sure about other bikes.

My 07 GS-A has no servo`s thank goodness.

Brakes feel more powerful and a much better feel....:D

I think that BMW have dropped the servos in all markets. The latest development of ABS means servos aren'r needed. BMW never admit they make a mistake but in my view the servos were a big mistake. sure they work really nicely when ebverything is working properly but the residual braking is not really a fail safe mode. Also rumours abound that repeated e-stops in a training environment left bikes with only residual braking- not an everyday occurrance but enough to be worrying and maybe a worry to BMWs corp. lawyers thinking of litigation.

I have servo brakes on mine and find them really good and think that they are fine in all practical situations but naff all use in residual mode if a servo fails or the system detects some other problem and activates residual mode. the later non-servoed ABS must be better but I suspect next time I'll buy without ABS as the only time it's activated in 3 years is when it wasn't needed (e'g rumble strips etc).

OK, thanks for your answerds....and for using an english easy for me:) :) :) .

And just a more question. Do anybody know if you want remove servo brake can you do it? Anything about that?

Thanks in advance again.. Gus

No heard of anyone removing the servos. I think it would be so difficult as to be impractical.

It would be very easy to convert to conventional brakes, but they would not be linked & the abs light would be on, but i bet there would be a way to turn it off
i Think to many people have a what if my abs fails ,what if my diff fails, fuel pump etc approch . I on the other hand tend to cross the bridges when i get to them
