Yes - another servo query.

I have 2003 1150GS, been playing up recently with a number of faults, biggest annoyance is the abs/servo playing silly buggers, on my 40 mile journey to work / home each day my abs gen light comes on & i get the 4Hz ABS light flash about 4 or 5 times throughout the journey. I generally stop and switch off and on again to reset the system and all is ok for a few more miles.

During the fault, the front brake works ok-ish, (I assume residual), the servo screams away under the tank and the rear brake does bugger all. Is this a common response to a duff servo? or are there are other failure modes?

Bought a servo off this site which I will get Steppers to put in on the next service, but if there are simple other things to check then I'll do that first.

If the servo is screaming the the brake isn't doing feck all you sir have a fecked servo.

put the bike on the charger over night and the bike ran brilliantly today - no problems at all :nenau
maybe the servo motor just not spinning fast enough anymore to build the pressure?
 
When I had the servo changed, they looked at the stored fault codes in the servo electronics. Basically, it had a few low levels warnings but the main repeating error was due to voltage spikes rather than the mechanicals of the unit - i can only assume (rightly or wrongly) that the processor had been fried at some point (not sure how or when). I don't know if this is the common failure mode but it did say in the servo unit fault code that it 'suggested replacement' as the cure.

I can dig out the print out later and give the exact error if interested.
 
It's true that the servo is very susceptible to battery condition, but if the motor is running continuously it could be the fluid levels are low. Have you checked the levels, including the reservoirs in the servo itself?

I have changed the rear brake pads and "drain" the air out...
