Set off for a nights camping in Snowdonia and the bloody Warning light comes on and the brake failure light flashes at 3-4 Hz Servo still appears to be working then stops working after a couple of applications.

Call's into Mike's at motorrad Cardiff and changes the bulb and the lights go back to normal.

Set off for North Wales and their back on again plus residual brakes only, too far now so carry on up North.

Next day start bike up and flash brake failure light and solid warning light but the servo works, but not for long as it reverts to residual brakes after a few applications.

Strange thing is if you turn the ignition off then turn it back on the servo starts working again.

Anyway I get used to the residual only brakes and its just like an airhead :D

Next day i clean the rear light connections and the lights stay the same, try a reset no change.

Go for a short run and the servo is working but cuts off after you apply the brake for split second, same front and rear. It's almost as if the ABS is kicking in at normal brake pressure.

It's a 2003 with Servo ABS.

If there's no obvious or easy fix (read cheap) it's coming off.

Haven't check any microswitches, It was plugged in to a diagnostics tool with no permanent faults?

Pixies in magic black boxes don't live in the real world.

Check the microswitches..........an intermittently sticking (due to a clog of sheep shit or anything really) brake lever switch by your right boot might be seen as someone riding the brake by a thick diagnostic prog.......

I had mine clogged up once, causing similarly odd problems.....

I'm not saying it all fits, but for the sake of two minutes on your knees with a can of wd40 and a toothbrush, then a wibble of the switch, it's got to be worth eliminating from the list of potentially more expensive faults :nenau

Top Tip: Don't use your own toothbrush. :thumb

Noted used Wife's toothbrush and rear switch is working fine.

Tried the brake response after I cleaned the rear only and the servo stay's on constantly after I press the rear lever, no servo response from the front.

Stays on constantly when rear activated but turns off properly when leverl released?

And on the front that isn't activating the servo, can you hear the microswitch?

Its a tiny noise, but it's quite clear without the engine running :thumb2

Thanks for the tips Bill, the rear was staying on once pressed and released but wouldn't turn-off. I can hear the little switch on the rear and it's been cleaned.

I've bitten the bullet now and taken the system off, just need new washers and the relay wired in and a bleed and it's done.

P.S. Must remember to buy wife new toothbrush :)

I had a similar problem on my last 1150, symptoms were....

Warning lights would come on then after a few seconds go off.

or

Warning lights would come on and stay on with residual braking, ignition off and back on would clear the fault,

Whilst testing I found that applying the brake then releasing it would leave the servo running constantly.

Turned out to be a sticking valve in the ABS unit.

Hope that is of some help....:D
