I have used a set of gauges to set my 1100 , rpm set aprox 1150 aprox , needle is doing a little jiggle ,Is this normal , Am i looking at bad cable or something more sinister ??? OR am i looking at a rebuild of bodies over winter . Any advice please .

I do believe a little jiggle is normal. I suppose it depends on what gauges you use and their sensitivity. I think my set up is called twinmax, it's electronic with a dial in the middle and balances the two rather than gives independent readings. That will jiggle about zero according to the sensitivity setting and the amount of throttle I'm giving it. HTH :rob

Am I right in believing that if you join up the two with the right bore rubber pipe you'll never have to balance them again ;)

It is perfectly normal for the gauges to giggle about. The engine gulps in air and then draws none every couple revolutions so its never a constant flowrate. Your gauges are just seeing this and reacting to it.

Most gauges have a damper on them. On mine I need to screw it right in so that its about 1/8 turn from fully shut to get a stable needle reading. Be aware that if you screw the damper in all the way you'll effectively block the pressure from the gauge and the needles will be completely static and not reading what the engines doing.
