Thanks for all the advice from this forum in response to my previous post.

I've decided I'm heading off to southern France 4/5 July and wondered if anyone else was. As its my first trip out I thought it might be nice to have a bit of company until I find my feet. Not booked a ferry yet, no particular route or itinery and not in a hurry, so on the off chance, I thought I might as well ask
Neville

I`m blatting down to Italy for the Stella Alpina on the 4th so if you`re in Dover around 5pm and see a Kalahari 1100GS ridden by someone with a dodgy haircut, come and say hello :D

Perryhill - since I have not heard from you in response to my pm I have to assume your plans have changed as I need to get moving and arrange my tunnel crossing. Have a great trip.

We're Going That Way

PBerrey and myself are heading for the Cote D'azure on the 4th.
Have booked the Eurostar for the 05:40 crossing and we'll wing it from there.
Thinking we may do Milau on route and then along the coast from Marseille.
Heading ultimately to Garmisch for the Friday, then heading back Saturday and Sunday.
Welcome to Tag along at any point.

If you see someone on a bling'd up grey V-Strom - that'll be me :)

I post this message with a heavy heart. Neville stayed with us last Saturday and Sunday nights, due to the heavy rain we all stayed in and watched the British GP on the TV. He set off on Monday morning heading for the Mediterranean.
I have just had an email from his wife to say that he had a fatal collision with a car on Monday evening.

Thoughts are with those that he leaves behind ...... This site almost always lifts my spirits, it is one refuge that I know I can drop by and walk away from with a smile ... when I hear these words written, it is like a hammer coming down - the reality of what we do and the impact it has on others is monumental.

Never knew you fella .... :rose

Terrible news to hear of any biker down, condolences to his wife & family, sods law his first major ride out, don't know about the rest of you but every motorcycle accident & fatality I hear about nowadays makes me feel a little more vunerable, back on the bike I feel O.K. Makes you think though, there but for the grace of God go I.

Commiserations to his wife and family. First trip out brings Alanis Morrisette's lyrics poignantly to mind.

Hope for his sake it was quick.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a Anam, dílis. :rose

Gents, fine sentiments, I'm going to close this thread in the travel section.

Theres a thread here that is perhaps more suitable for our condolences.

Thank you,
Kev :(
